Describe the differences between AC and DC generators

  • AC uses slip ring instead of split ring which is more stable.
  • Generates a sinusoid as current is not reversed by split ring
  • DC uses the same principle but split ring reverses current to produce a bouncing single direction signal
  • Several loops out of phase will stabilise the signal
