Identify that the required magnetic fields in DC motors can be produced either by current-carrying coils or permanent magnets

  • Field can come from permanent of electromagnet
  • Permanent: Ferromagnetic, fixed to motor body, radial ones are better
  • Electro: Coils around iron with current to give magnetic field i.e. solenoid.
