Identify that the motor effect is due to the force acting on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field

  • Conductor with current gives a magnetic field
  • Passing through an external magnetic field gives an interaction gives a force which is known as the motor effect. First identified in 182.
  • Direction is found using right hand push (see 1.1)
  • Magnitude can be found with F = BIlSinθ to find force where F is force (N), B is magnetic field (T), l is length (m) and θ is degrees.
